The Anointed One (Exodus 29)

Home » Teaching » Old Testament » Exodus » The Anointed One Exodus 29 |  August 23, 2020

The Lord tells Moses of three extraordinary procedures to ordain the high priest and other priests, all of which point to different aspects of Jesus Christ. One of them is that Aaron, the first high priest, is to be anointed with oil. This act points to the meaning of the term Christ or Messiah (a title which means "the Anointed One"). In this lesson we explore the significance of that act and term throughout the Old and New Testaments, what it tells us about the coming of Christ, and how King David used this picture to teach us about the importance of unity.
