This message brings three additional lessons for us from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, beyond what was covered in the prior message. We first learn that the root sin of Sodom that brought about judgment was not sexual sin. Instead we learn that those who lived in Sodom "had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and the needy." Jesus' teachings on the pursuit of pleasure and caring for those in need have radical implications for us today.  In this lesson we also learn about the incredible power of angels, ministers sent to help God’s people. Finally, in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah we may see a foreshadowing of the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, as prophesied by Jesus.
